Research

Yesterday was a day of never ending research. My husband will tell you that when I get an idea in my head, there is no stopping me until I get everything entirely figured out about that idea, and come to a conclusion about whether that idea it worth the time to pursue. Yesterday my research was dedicated to TKGA's Master Knitting program. I was able to find a forum on Ravelry with TONS of info and insights. That also led me to Here's to Ewe podcast which in turn led me to several other podcasts including Knitmore Girls . As a result of all this research, I have also determined that I DEFINITELY want to complete the program to become a certified Master Knitter. I intend to embark on the program after the holidays when things have calmed down a bit.

Speaking of holiday knitting. I finished the Pythagorean theorem scarf yesterday!!! It needs some substantial blocking, which will take place on a great big blocking day in the future. Now onto the hat and the rest of the gloves.

But I REALLY Want to

In my far too many hours of knitting related web surfing yesterday, I stumbled (again) across the websites for The Knitting Quilt of America and Craft Yarn Council of America. They made my little knitting head spin, and gave me far too many ideas. Both organizations offer correspondence courses in knitting which have me ready to jump in with both feet. TKGA offers a Three Level course to become a Master Knitter, and the CYCA offers a three level course to become a certified knitting instructor. The programs appear challenging, but just what I need to push myself to the next level. My very supportive husband told me to jump right in, and I love him for that. I know that secretly he thinks I am in need to being admitted to some kind of knitters support group (and we all know that would turn into enabling). I have spent all day today doing more research, and think that I am going to start with TKGA's "Basic, Basic, Basic" course to make sure that I have a good foundation. I am so EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knitting, Knitting, Knitting

I have had a lot of great knitting time this week. Our church has a worldwide conference twice a year, and the October session took place this last weekend. I often knit during conference because it helps to keep me focused on the words, and I find that my mind doesn't wander nearly as much. Consequently, I was am now 75% finished with Amy's scarf. I have already checked off the hats for the 2 girls, 1 scarf and 2 right hand mittens. I love how soft the Swish Worsted is when it works up. I do find a bit of pilling and the yarn can be occasionally splity, but I still love the colors, and for the price, who can beat it.

I got a huge package of yarn in the mail yesterday!!! It is all the stuff I need to finish my Christmas projects, and them a couple of things for myself for Christmas!!! I am really looking forward to it, but I need to finish these projects first. I find that I am definitely a product knitter, meaning that I knit to enjoy the product. That is not to say that I don't enjoy the process, but it is the thought of the finished product which keeps me going. Consequently, I find that I am not the kind of knitter who can knit 3 or 4 projects at once. I tend to become absorbed by one project at the expense of the others, and often times the others never get finished, like that sweater that has been in the closet since I started knitting. I really should do something about that. It really only needs to have the sleeves finished. Either way, I am really excited about these new projects, which include the Tidings of Joy Kit and the line by line mittens and gloves. I will let you know what I think. In the meantime, I am posting a couple of pictures of the finished hats.
