My husband and I are both the oldest in our family, and although there are different numbers of children in each family, our youngest siblings are about the same age. Consequently, both of are youngest sisters just started their freshman year, and ironically both are attending BYU. So that makes 3 undergrads at BYU. A few days after my sister, Amy, started school, she called to give me an update. She let me know that even though the day time highs were close to 90 degrees, it was really cold when she was riding her bike to and from school. She asked if I would knit her a mitten, scarf and hat set. Of course, I can't knit them for one person without knitting for the others. So, I am on a winter accessories marathon. So far, I have the hats done for both of the girls, as well as the right mitten for each of them. I am currently working on the scarf for John's sister. I have decided to use swish worsted because I thought that it would be rather dangerous to send college students something that would felt in the washing machine. Generally, I am really liking the yarn. It has great stitch definition and is really easy to work with. I haven't found it to be too splity or have a lot of knots. I am a bit concerned about pilling after I wash is up, but I will let you know what I think.
Here are the links to the patterns I am using. I will post pictures when they are all done.
